Job Description

smartShift Technologies is looking for an Puppet Engineer to join our team in India.

Responsibilities

Develop automation code to deploy and maintain systems and applications using application orchestration software 

  • Work with development teams to identify and implement automation in appropriate areas 
  • Coordinate with vendor to Puppet related issues and follow up on enhancement requests 
  • Experience with Puppet upgrade and able to resolve any challenges during upgrades 
  • Interact with customer contacts and colleagues, elicit requirements, plan deliverables accordingly 
  • Continuously share knowledge with team members 
  • Create metrics to measure project delivery effectiveness and evangelize with team and customer contacts 
  • Develop inter personal relations with colleagues and practice open communication with team members in all offices 
  • Publish whitepapers/blogs focused on cloud technologies and share with team members 
  • Be the cloud champion by continuously learning new technologies and Identifying technical areas for smartShift to invest in, to stay ahead in the market 
Skills & Experience
  • 3 to 12 years of hands Puppet experience 
  • Must have strong experience in configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible 
  • Must have experience in Shell scripting; Past experience in executing Ruby scripts is desirable 
  • Puppet Certified Professional (PCP) certification
  • Knowledge of implementing Puppet modules from the Puppet Forge as well as knowledge of advanced Puppet concepts like roles and profiles and Hiera data abstraction. 
  • Puppet code quality management with rspec or similar tools. 
  • Experience developing custom types and providers 
  • Comfortable with the roles and profiles pattern for node classification 
  • Linux working experience is mandatory – RedHat, CentOS 
  • Past experience working in variety of source control platforms such as Git, Bitbucket, SVN is mandatory 
  • Past experience working in AWS is important 
  • Should possess strong problem solving and analytical skills; consistent incorporation of best practices and standards in delivery 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) & interpersonal skills – able to influence customer stakeholders 
  • Eagerness to learn new technology/new concepts
Qualification
  • BE/MCA or equivalent 
  • 3+ years of software industry experience 
  • Puppet Certified Professional (PCP) certification preferred
